What does breathing mean to you?
Do you consider it to be something familiar, natural and automatic?
Do you know how to breathe?
Do you ever pay attention to your body, your breath and how you sometimes feel?
Breathing is such a simple thing we do without even knowing we do it.
When we are in the throes of a storm and life seems out of control, the one thing we can keep on top of is our breath.
When we are angry, frustrated or have other emotions, our breathing can heighten, become shallow and cause issues on top of our struggles.a
It can be challenging to remain calm and gather our thoughts to resolve our problems.
How do we stay calm when so many external factors are trying to make life complicated, tiring and tricky?
If there is one constant in life, is that it is ever-changing. So whilst we will always have changes, we can help ourselves self-soothe.
Have you ever found yourself holding your breath or taking short, shallow breaths when angry or fearful about something?
Do you catch yourself not doing so correctly? Learning what we unconsciously do can help us to be more mindful and challenge our habits.
There are many ways to alleviate stress, and what works for one won’t for another. It would help if you found out what’s right for you and what works to change your breathing and thinking habits.
Some examples are spending time with loved ones, long walks, cooking, or meditation. The list is plentiful.
If you have found yourself concentrating on your breath and noticed in certain circumstances that you cannot control it, you can work with me to break bad habits and make new positive ones.
Breathing is so natural, from the time we are born to the time we die, we do it.
It’s automatic, but it can sometimes get us into a pickle.
It becomes problematic when it causes us to live our life differently.
It causes difficulties if we do not get enough air into our lungs and become panicky.
It can cause us to not function in our world as we would like to. It can cause anxiety or be a symptom of anxiety.
If our breath is out of control, it can begin to control how we live. Something automatic can become a challenge in our everyday life.
I know most of my clients have issues with breathing, yet they had no idea it was a problem until I brought anxious thoughts and breath to their attention.
